Short answer: Fields of Mistria is a single-player farming and life-sim RPG from NPC Studio. It left early access on August 5, 2026. It costs $13.99 on Steam, runs on Windows (and is Steam Deck compatible), and there is no multiplayer.

What you actually do in Mistria

The developer's own press kit describes the game as a "spiritual successor to the Farm-Sim RPGs of the late 90s & onward (Harvest Moon SNES through Stardew Valley)". You are given an overgrown homestead in a village between forest and sea, and you help rebuild the town after an earthquake — while strange magic starts moving through the land.

Does it speak your language?

Version 1.0 shipped the first beta localisations. The developer lists seven, and is explicit that they are unfinished — roughly 75% complete at the time of the 1.0 release, with refinement ongoing:

English is the original language and is complete.

Three things new players get wrong

  1. There is no co-op. Steam lists this game under Single-player only — no multiplayer or co-op category appears at all. The official wiki has no multiplayer article either; searching for one redirects you to the game's main page.
  2. Marriage is not gender-locked. Straight from the official FAQ: you can marry any eligible villager regardless of gender.
  3. Console is not announced. The press kit fact sheet lists platforms as "PC: Steam" and "Console: TBA". See the platform page.
